Our last full week we stayed near Poipu beach on the sunny south side of Kauai.

We grabbed the first clear day to visit the somewhat awe inspiring Waimea Canyon. |

We saw a few nenes, the endangered native Hawaiian flightless goose. This is the extremely rare unbanded nene. |

We also saw many specimens of the not very rare Kauai Chicken. |
|||||
We took a catamaran cruise to the Na Pali coast on the northwest side of Kauai. |
|||||
The cruise presented numerous opportunities to see humpback whale activities. |

The same cruise was visited by a large pod of spinner dolphins. |

These ancient taro fields on Kauai's north side are still in production. |

The waterfall in the backround is fed by the "Rainiest Spot on Earth" in the distant mountains. |
