Our trip began with a couple of quick stops in Eastern Washington, then we continued on to Utah.

henge

I began the trip with a thorough celestial alignment at the Stonhenge replica above the Columbia River in Maryhill.

We stayed one night with Kathy Wildermuth and John Jamison in Walla Walla. They have this lovely view of the Blue Moutains across their pond.

Our first proper southwest stop was Arches National Park. The Delicate Arch (actually rather muscular) behind me is the one you see on Utah license plates.

We saw these petroglyphs while walking back from the Delicate Arch. They were remarkably unprotected and unmolested.

A sunset view of a whole gathering of arches called the "Parade of Elephants".

Raina steadies herself on some sandstone at the "Island in the Sky" in Canyonlands National Park.

This is the view of the park from the far end of Island in the Sky. The confluence of the Colorado and Green rivers is below us on the left.
