breezy

Raina catches a breeze up the beach from our hotel.

King Kamehameha had his men build this heiau right before paddling off to conquer Oahu. Good training exercise.

haleohia

We spent one night at the utter lovely Hale Ohia just outside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Hale Ohia is run by Dixon the cat. Here he is making sure everything is ok for the new occupants.

pele

We were blessed with an actual sighting of the goddess Pele emerging from a steam vent.

There was a sizable feast left on the crater rim for Pele.

petroglyphs

These and many other petroglyphs were carved in the rock near the shore below the volcanic craters.

A spectacular Kona sunset beyond the ancient fish ponds.
