Carl and Trish took us to their favorite cheese shop in Boulogne. Fromage formidable.

We stopped to look at Rodin's "Burghers of Calais". From here we hopped on the TGV, and blasted through Paris to Lyon. In Lyon we rented a Renault Clio to experience the thrill of French driving.

After getting lost only once or twice, we managed to find Jessica, Christy, and Jean Luc at their extraordinarily charming farmhouse.

Jean Luc and Christy took us to Saint Antoine l'Abbaye to see an utterly authentic French flea market.

No particular plan at all led us to this room in a lovely Chateau in Malaucene.

We took a sightseeing break at a cafe in the old part of Arles...

... which was apparently one of Vincent's hangouts as well.

If you keep going south, you eventually hit the Mediterranean. We had lunch here with our toes in the sand.

bormes

The old pirate town, Bormes les Mimosas, has this lovely view out to sea.

Nice was the end of our driving adventure, and a return to relatively relaxing train travel.
